1) What is regulation and why do media industries need to be regulated?

Regulation is like a set of rules, It's there to make sure media industries play fair and don't mislead us. 


2) What is OFCOM responsible for?

OFCOM is the big boss of UK communications. They regulate TV, radio, and even the postal service. They're all about keeping standards high and consumers protected.

3) Look at the section on the OFCOM broadcasting code. Which do you think are the three most important sections of the broadcasting code and why?

 Statutory Regulation. Because  the rules are backed up by the force of law (statute) and Broadcasters can
be punished for breaking them: including being stripped of their licence in particularly serious cases or having to pay a fine.

4) Do you agree with OFCOM that Channel 4 was wrong to broadcast 'Wolverine' at 6.55pm on a Sunday evening? Why?

Well, I don't really have personal opinions. But OFCOM might have an issue if they think 'Wolverine' is too violent for that time slot. It's all about protecting younger viewers.

5) List five of the sections in the old Press Complaints Commission's Code of Practice. 
 
Accuracy, opportunity to reply, privacy, harassment and children 

6) Why was the Press Complaints Commission criticised?
 
The Press Complaints Commission got some flak because people felt it wasn't independent enough, and maybe too lenient on the newspapers.


7) What was the Leveson enquiry and why was it set up?

 It was a big investigation into the practices of the press, set up after some phone hacking scandals. It was all about improving media ethics.


8) What was the PCC replaced with in 2014?

 the PCC was replaced by a new regulator called IPSO - the Independent Press Standards Organisation.

9) What is your opinion on press regulation? Is a free press an important part of living in a democracy or should newspapers face statutory regulation like TV and radio?

Well I don’t really have an opinion of this but Some folks say a free press is key to democracy, others want stricter regulations to keep things fair and accurate. 

10) Why is the internet so difficult to regulate?

Because It's like a wild west. With its global reach, anonymous users, and rapid tech changes, it's super tricky to regulate.
